I am happy to report that, at long last, the US perfect replica Rolex Bubbleback market is showing signs of life. These watches were very popular and heavily collected decades ago but have since settled into the background of the vintage world. For a multitude of factors, including case size, difficulty in finding solid examples, and many, many reprinted dials, even the most passionate vintage collectors of the past 10 or 20 years have steered clear.
Well, on the heels of smaller case sizes being “cool,” Cartier trending and, with it, interest in early 20th-century wristwatch designs spiking, Bubblebacks luxury copy watches are starting to simmer to the surface. I saw a great rose gold example while visiting with TikTok’s favorite dealer Mike Nouveau during November auction season in Geneva (you can check it out in the hero image of my Year In Review essay). Nouveau owned that one for all of an afternoon, buying it in the morning from another dealer and moving it to a new home in just a few hours.
Trends don’t start with one watch selling quickly through a dealer. A couple of weeks ago, Loupe This offered another excellent Bubbleback, a ref. 3372 in solid yellow gold with a two-tone salmon dial co-signed by Giudici Milano. While it is a mouthful to list out, this was a truly amazing best fake watches. Even as a quiet Bubbleback supporter, the $33,000 final price surprised me. My trend-spotting senses are tingling.
Loupe This is keeping the train rolling with another Swiss made fake Rolex watches ref. 3372, this time in two-tone pink gold and steel and a sportier dial variant with luminous markers and a 24-hour inner track. Yes, two have come up in quick succession on the same auction site, but I want to stress the difficulty of finding one of these with original dials like these – it’s next to impossible at this point. Especially when the dial is luminous as the radium material usually degrades, damaging the dial, and someone along the line of ownership decides to “take care of it” with a fresh paint job. There is no funny business on this one, though; it is in excellent condition. If you trust me and want to get in on a Bubbleback before the trend really “hits,” this is a great opportunity.
